ST:  Have you personally had a ghostly experience?

CR:   No. However, whereas I used to be within a thousand miles of believing any of this stuff, now I am within a few feet, perhaps a few inches. Not because of any direct encounters myself but because of my encounters with people whom, because of my very selective approach, I have singled out for their very profound affect and depth of emotion. The fact that they believe so strongly makes me believe somewhat, especially when they are educated, professional people, lawyers, doctors, college professors, people not ordinarily prone to superstitious flights fancy. That's not to say that professional, educated people are less likely to lie than uneducated people are.
