Dorcus Good was one of the unfortunates
of the Salem witchcraft trials. She was said to be about 4
years old when she was accused of being involved in witchcraft.
Although she was eventually set free, she spent months chained
to the wall of a cold, dank prison. Her mother, Sarah Good
was one of the first of the accusedto be hung. What was wrong
with these people? Are prisons not meant for murderers and
thieves or were they meant for children who don't even understand
the meaning of the word crime?
Giles Corey was another of the accused
who was very outspoken. An older gentleman who when accused,
refused to speak on such outlandish accusations. For his punishment
he would be crushed to death with the weight of boulders until
he could no longer breathe. Were we not always taught to respect
our elders? Was this the respect that they deserved?
