Cyrilmag: How did you become involved in the haunted house industry?

LP:  I did a Haunted House in my college dorm, for fun in 1976. The admission price was 50 cents, and with 2 nights of operation we grossed $1000. It opened up my mind to the possibilities. After I graduated, I chaired the Dallas March of Dimes Haunt for 4 years before striking out on my own. I have been haunting in one way or another ever since.

Cyrilmag: What kind of education/training led you to a career in the haunted house industry?

LP: My degree is in Architectural Design, and I apprenticed for 10 years in Architect offices in the Dallas area. This taught me codes and drawings and how to deal with building officials. But I did not like the fact that many of the buildings I was designing or doing drawings for were in far away places. I never got to see the people enjoying the spaces that I created. With the Haunted House, I got to see first hand how my designs effected people. It is much more gratifying.
